All Sections
Corporation
Sustainable development is a key element of the Obolon Corporation’s strategy. It allows the company to implement its corporate ambitions and fully develop each of its CSR areas: employee development, environment protection, promotion of sports, and support of the local communities.
Production
Producing beverages with a high level of quality and safety is the basis for the long-term development of the Obolon Corporation. Stability of production processes and guaranteed quality and safety of its beverages ensure that the company achieves its goals on the way to sustainability.
Economics
Obolon makes both a direct and an indirect impact on the economy of the country as a whole and specific regions where its facilities are located through job creation, paying taxes to the local and state budgets, development of related industries, and support of the social culture.
Environment
Climate change, resource depletion, and energy dependence are the challenges of the 21st century for individuals as well as for large manufacturers. Reduction of environmental impact and conservation of nature are priorities for Obolon as the largest Ukrainian beverage producer.
Society
Adhering to the principles of sustainable development, Obolon views the participation in the social life of the regions where its facilities are located as an important component of developing Ukrainian society as well as its own business.

Technologies

To improve the quality of beverages  and all production processes, the company renovates its equipment regularly. This makes the company a leader both in Ukraine and in Europe in general in terms of its technological excellence.

Today, Obolon is associated with Ukrainian beer No. 1 on five continents.

  • 1995 On September 1, the company commissioned the first Ukrainian PET bottling line for soft drinks in Filling Shop No. 6.
  • 1996 The first Ukrainian beer filling line for 50-liter kegs for restaurants was brought into operation in Filling Shop No. 3 at the main factory.

Energy Efficient Technologies and Innovations

  • 2009 Obolon developed a long-term energy saving programme

The programme consists of:

  • energy saving measures
  • energy utility projects for the main brewery

The corporation's energy efficiency programme includes lower energy consumption measures, namely:

  • organizational
  • analytical
  • production and technical.

Since 2009, the corporation enterprises have implemented the following energy efficient projects:

Obolon saved UAH 7.5 million on sparing fuel resources
  1. Reconstruction of brewing plants Nos. 2 and 3 by installing Ziemann energy saving equipment.
  2. Construction of a station for iron extraction from condensate.
  3. Installation of two low-pressure compressors in the malting pressure shop and in the malting shop.
  4. Reconstruction of the heat supply and condensate disposal system of the brewer's grain drying section.
  5. Reconstruction of the CCS (cooling and compressor shop) heating system using the secondary heat produced by the helical compressors.
  6. Reconstruction of the back water supply system in the CCS building.
  7. Waste water recycling for malting at the malting plant in Chemerivtsi.
"Now, saving and efficient use of energy resources is the only way to survive during the energy crisis. Obolon was among the first to implement energy efficient measures and has so far achieved considerable success. Thus, in 2013, the corporation reduced its gas consumption by 12% and water consumption by 15%, and saved 11% of electricity".
Sergiy Pustovit
Obolon's leading energy manager
Reasonable use of resources by the corporation enterprises reduced the energy component of the product cost by 0.35%.
  • 2014 In July, Obolon was the first food company among the three companies that received a certificate of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine included in the State Register of Companies Engaged in Development and Use of Energy Saving and Energy Efficient Projects. This will enable the corporation to ensure a two-fold reduction of taxes on the income gained from taking energy efficient measures.

Water Recycling

Every year, Obolon saves 500,000 tons of water due to the water recycling project implemented in 2012.
3,240.500 m3 was  the volume of recycled water in 2013. This water is used to wash the equipment and the glass bottles.

СО2 Processing

Obolon processes carbon acid (СО2 gas) released in the process of beer fermenting from gas fraction into liquid with its further use for production purposes.

СО2 processing plants are installed at the Kyiv and Fastiv factories (Zibert Brewery).
